A review of The Duke Of Clarence by "Sunnyside" Tony written on Thursday 23rd of July 2015
Coming home into Derby from visiting a sick friend in Little Eaton the other Sunday, we decided to have a bite to eat at a local pub, as it was gone midday, and my wife said she would prefer not to start cooking at that time of day. I noticed the Duke Of Clarence on the right as we came down Alfreton road, and decided to stop there as a modest sign outside advertised Sunday lunch at a reasonable price.
There was a few people in, and we sat down at a table in the lounge. A very pleasant young lady took our orders, and we very soon found ourselves looking at a very generous helping of beef, roast potatoes, carrots, potatoes, cabbage, Yorkshire pudding etc., and one of the most palatable gravies I have ever tasted with a pub meal. The meal was cooked to perfection by a very friendly and congenial gentleman, who asked us whether we had had sufficient, and offered extra if we wished! I had a passable pint of one of the real ales on offer, and my lady had her usual dry white wine.
On the whole, a very pleasant, different, Sunday lunchtime.
Nice people, nice atmosphere. We'll be going there again..
